The fire at Dhaka North City Corporation advertise in Gulshan-1 was brought under control tonight, around 16 hours into its commencement.

Twenty-two units of firefighters brought the fire under control around 5:45 pm, Maj Shakil Newaj, chief (operations and support) of Fire Service and Civil Defense base camp, told media. 

"The fire can't overwhelm any longer. Some spot flames are as yet starting under the flotsam and jetsam of the market," he said. 

Firefighters began pulverization work at various parts of the market around 9:00 pm to splash the fire, he included.

Around first light, a part of the market with 296 shops broken down after the fire, Talat Regvi, administrator of DNCC Market Traders' Association, told The Daily Star.
